[Typo3] BE frame goes blank after saving content?

Anyone come across the problem of a blank page in the BE after every save?

It started off intermittently but now every time I do a save or save & close
etc the main frame is blank. 

I just click the page in the tree again to bring back the page with all data
safely saved to the database.

It seems to me like it might be a cache issue rather than a target issue.

Any ideas?
