If you go the MTB route, then recall templates have two meanings

HTML templates and typoscript templates. Both different.

One is your html template with markers to tell typo3 where to insert the
dynamic content and the other is your typoscript templates eg the setup
field which tells typo3 what to do with the dynamic stuff (eg to put the
dynamic content into the marker placeholders in your html template).

Step one for me is just to build the psd webpage in html and get that
working in a browser. Then start looking at typo3 and how to replace the
content areas with dynamic content.
