[Typo3] How to change metatags on page level

I have configured some metags in the constant section of my template
using the metatags extension. That works fine.

In some cases, however, I want to override the default metatag value
on the individual page level, such as for the robots tag (noindex).

I'v inserted
plugin.meta.robots = noindex, follow
in the TSConfig field of a page, but that doesn't work.

Could anybody kindly explain to me how to change metatags on the page
level? Thanks!
