[Typo3] Integration with other scripts... wise?

Hey guys, 

Would it be wise to integrate a script, or use it side by side with 
Typo3. For example, I am not sure how enhanced the TYPO3 download 
management system is, so I am thinking about just using the Olate 
Download Manager which seems to have everything I need plus it can 
integrate with Invision and Phpbb...
