[Typo3] Direct Mail

Hi,

I need som kind of newsletter on my site, and stumbled across the "Direct Mail Tutorial". It looks like it can do the job.

But, following the toturial is rather confusing, the extensions won't install (a bit of hacking solved that problem), and I started getting the feeling that the direct_mail extension (or the tutorial) is rather old and outdated...

Does anyone have any succes installing and using direct mail? Am I using the wrong extension?

I'm running:

TYPO 3.7.0
MySQL 4.1.10a-max 

And the three extensions:
direct_mail 1.0.8
direct_mail_subscription 1.0.3
tt_address 1.0.3
