[Typo3] BE Login redirect to Front End editing

Greetings list recipients.

I would like to add the 'Interface' drop-down menu which enables BE user's to be redirected to front-end editing when they login. An example of exactly what I want is at:
http://www.enomaly.com/TYPO3_Login.339.0.html

Is it worth asking Enomaly to share their solution (GPL)?

Is it possible to always redirect members of a particular (BE) user group to either the front or back end (configurable)?

(PS: This is a long-standing question. There are posts in this newsgroup going back a couple of years.. but none with responses.)
