[TYPO3-dev] Replace absPath in BE skin for 6.2.x

Hello,

I have a  use case where I have to replace certain icons in file tree 
depending on BE user's language.

I have tried to override $TBE_STYLES['skinImgAutoCfg']['absDir'] from 
preHeaderRenderHook but it does not seem to work.

I know it's possible to override all icons from a skin.

Is this possible to override icons dynamically from an extension?
