Hello Ronny,

as workaround for input's of type checkbox or radio try to put a 
input-hidden with same name as radio/checkbox input's in front of them 
(first item!) and set a default fallback. So you always get a 
fallback-value.

It's tested a lot of times with formhandler in TYPO3 projects ;-)
