Hi Steffen, hi Michael,

it's different with TYPO3 4.5:

There are two places where these settings are stored / used.

The sys_ter table is used for the display in the "Settings"-Tag in the 
Extension Manager. After you change the sys_ter-Table the CDN entry is 
listed there. But this does not help with downloading.

The second place is the old module "Settings" - and this is the relevant 
place since when downloading extensions from the new Extension Manager 
as well as via the "Import extensions" module both use 
$this->MOD_SETTINGS - this means the mirror list is stored in BE_USER->uc!

So if you want to beta test:

1. Go to the old module "Settings"
2. In the input "Enter mirror list URL:" replace 
"http://repositories.typo3.org/mirrors.xml.gz" with 
"http://repositories.typo3.org/mirrors-cloudfront.xml.gz"
3. Click "Update" oder press [enter]
4. Click on the near invisible link "Click here to reload the list." in 
the "Mirror list" fieldset
5. Now you see only "TYPO3.org CDN Mirror" instead of the old mirrors

Downloading extensions now happens via ter.typo3.org

I guess there is even more fun with TYPO 4.7 since the old modules are 
completely disabled there...
