Only for BE Users or also for admin users? It can also happen the permissions get lost (i experienced that).
It seems there will be a new patch in 6.2.2 and this feature was bit of an early shot.

I will implement my own mechanism in TCA config directly,
if TYPO3 < 6.2.2 add TCA for categories manually
else use the new CategoryRegistry::getTcaFieldConfiguration()
