[TYPO3-dev] developing ext on 6.x: how to update db

hi

a part the annoying missing modified files note ( see 
myhttp://forge.typo3.org/issues/48040 )

how do you update the db of an ext you are developing?

i add a field to ext_tables.php .. and now am i compelled to use the 
INSTALL tool db compare?

any other faster way?
