[TYPO3-dev] Frontend editing - where are the SQL-statements put together?

Hello,
just out of curiosity (and because I want to hunt down a nasty bug): when I use frontend editing (feeditadvanced) in TYPO3 4.4. or 4.5 - where does the actual database work (UPDATE, INSERT etc.) take place?
