Because TYPO3 has to be able to use several DBMS a subset of SQL is 
supported. Views and foreign keys are not in the supported statements 
and functions.

The EM and Install Tool analyse the fields in the database and compare 
it to the contents of the ext_tables.sql file. The differences will be 
offered as statements for updates.
