This has been suggested before, but that would mean that each extension 
author would be forced to create a forge project for it; even if he/she 
doesn't want to use the other features of forge. On the other hand for 
all current extensions a forge project would have to be created. This 
would lead to a sudden huge increase in forge projects, an increased 
need for resource for the forge server and all this for extensions which 
won't be actively using it.

A "publish to TER" button would be a nice solution to have the best of 
both worlds, but this needs to be built into Redmine. Feel free to build 
(or have one built) a 'plugin' (or how it's called for Redmine) for this 
feature...
