At least it makes sense to push your changes to the master branch on
review.typo3.org since we agree it should at least be part of the next
version of TYPO3. Besides that, we might consider to backport it to
earlier branches - as we currently do with the Backports repository for
TYPO3 4.5 LTS and 4.6.
