Have you included the typoscript? Set a storage point for the plugin where
all you records are stored?

4.7.

On Monday, March 26th 2012 we held our 15th meeting with the following
participants:
  - Steffen Ritter (4.7 Release Manager)
  - Ben van't Ende (Community Manager)
  - Oliver Hader (Core Team Leader)

We just discussed some changes and additions in Release Notes and
Announcement regarding to testing and upgrading which already had been
integrated for the Release of Beta 3.

Besides that we all were quite comfortable with our current state of 4.7.

The meeting has been quite short though.

On forge I saw the first TYPO3 6.0 project "jQuery" stating that jQuery
"...shall be used as the main JavaScript library in the TYPO3 Backend."

Does that mean, that there are plans to drop ExtJS Engine for TYPO3 6.0
?

Maybe a tip someone likes and I ran into lately by accident: if you make
the ext_emconf.php file of your server not writable by the server you are
developing on, locally the file cannot be updated by the server. This way
you can keep your version numbers manually in your VCS without much hassle.

plans are to kick prototype first, however things which can be done
better in jquery then extjs could be changed later too.

Exactly. We should get rid of prototype first and not introduce a third 
JS framework in the BE. And migrating all the existing ExtJS code to 
jQuery is an illusion, we will never have the manpower to do so. Better 
to switch to Phoenix.

current activities.

 Backport Releases
--------------------------
Ernesto informed, that he hadn't had time to work on the backport effort
yet, thus kindly asked to postpone again. Benni argued we need shift
focus more on the "newer releases", thus not give backporting features
to 4.5 (and 4.6) so much effort. It looked like the interest in the
backports wasn't that big, considering only one backport review request
on Gerrit: but this might also be due to lack of publicity around it.

At the end we argued that at least a consistent set of Hooks (throughout
4.5 .. 4.7) would make a good reason for a backports release, thus
allowing extensions to use the hooks in a consistent manner throughout
4.5 and 4.7.

We postponed the backports RC to after the 4.7.0 release (ca. end of
May). In our meeting Ernesto also noted that this "backporting-release"
is currently only a "one-time shot". We won't do it (probably) again.
4.5 was released more than one year ago, and this gives us the
opportunity to "catch up" with newer releases. Fact is that 80-90% of
new "productive" installations of TYPO3 (in some agencies even 100%) are
still focusing on 4.5, mainly because of the promise for long term
security fixes.

Ernesto would like to re-discuss the content of the backport release in
our team again, and would consider the "virtual tree root" as a
"usability improvement / fix", amongs others (i.e. page tree with
selecting a page editing some item, or keeping a branch open after
closing a page-tree filter - both of which Stefan and Jigal plan to take
a look at during the T3DD). Kind of like a "Service Pack" for TYPO3 4.5 LTS.

 Outstanding issues
--------------------------

We considered the MEDIA Element as currently not stable and not
backwards compatible. Steffen Ritter took a look into it on the weekend
and found out about several issues:

* In versions before 4.7 the SWFObject TypoScript Object could be used
to add what ever Flash-Objekt into an Webpage. With the rewrite to
FlowPlayer this has been changed. Even if the actual SWF File can be
overridden, FlowPlayer JavaScript and CSS always will included.
* The HTML Output will always use <video> and <audio> even if no HTML5
is selected
* <video> element is rendered even if it makes no sense like custom
Flash-File or no <sources>
* swfobject JavaScript is not used anymore
* the MEDIA Element is not able to hand over SWFObject Configuration to
deal with videos using own swf player
* the FlexForm of Media Element is unusable as the many new options
cluttered it.

Steffen Ritter already pushed some CleanUp to Gerrit. Anyhow the
SWFOBJECT problems still are present. As a first start of reworking
SWFOBJECT showed, that it is quite hard to consider all places, the
release team suggested to move the current SWFOBJECT to an another
Media-Object (or into the Media-Object) and restore the SWFOBJECT from
version 4.6. Steffen Ritter will be working on that. Support, especially
like reviewing and improving the patches on Gerrit is highly appreciated
as these MEDIA element issues are considered as a blocker for Release
Candidate 1.

= Developer Days         =
==========================

Steffen Ritter asked if and what we would have to prepair for the
Core-Team Codesprint in front of the DevDays.
No starting time had been announced yet. We decided upon 10am on
Tuesday. We also will use the Thursday morning.
We considered that there are currently no FAL sessions at all on the
DevDays. Benni and Steffen, both member of the FAL team, will
spontanously present the architecture and work progress on FAL to the
core-team, to attract people to our hands on session and share
knwowledge about this important topic.
In addition - if possible - the File Abstraction Layer should be
presented at the Developer-Days as a side track. A german presentation
about FAL from including Class Diagram might be use as a basis to start
with.

In addition Olly and Benni meet up in Stuttgart Tuesday and Wednesday to
do some Core-Leadership work as well as prepare some other topics for
the DevDays like the jQuery Migration session.

The hooks to add your own postprocessors are either merged into 6.0 or 
are currently reviewed:

Until issue 32701 is merged you could either patch your installation 
with these or just put your postprocessors in 
typo3/sysext/form/Classes/System/Postprocessor as a temporary work around.

As Steffen already wrote, there is a feature request to add a 
postprocessor to save to DB. But currently it is far from completed.

The new form ext is a bit of a riddle to me. What was the reason for 
reprogramming the form ext? Moving to extbase & fluid? OK. But why is it 
still imcomplete and very buggy? It IS a core ext, isn't it?

Another post metions that refactoring is planned, but didn't make it to 
4.7. Somebody else mentions - very correctly - that it should be 
backported to 4.5 being a LTS ... but that does not seem to be in the 
interest of the core team, is it?

I would love to read some explanation about this topic, because I think 
the basic functionality that this ext brings with it, is awesome. It 
could very well be a serious "competitor" to powermail. - And I would 
really like to know, why there is nothing done to make it work properly 
in 4.5...

(Please be so kind NOT to say I am welcome to co-develop it... I am not 
a programmer, but I try the ext, post bugs at forge, vote and already 
posted some things here on the various lists. That's about it what I can 
do.)

There is a bug introduced with the update to TYPO3 version > 4.5.13 not
showing Flexform fields if used in tables other than tt_content. I think it
mostly subjects powermail-users as the rendering for the form types depends
on flexform fields.

 

So could you please review and merge my backports to version 4.5 and 4.6.
This is very important as users with limited access can?t work with
powermail by now.

Backports were indeed forgotten. I also found this bug in a 4.5 
installation and then found the report+patch.

Hi,

I work on my local developing enviroment (MAMP) and otherwise mostly on 
allinkl, definately on some Unix enviroment, I never had to do anything 
with TYPO3 on IIS (Windows). Usually, all the needed permissions are 
either 755 and 777 for folders, never anything else.

TYPO3 ships with a standard of 755 for all folders. Subsequently the 
respective folder permissions have to be changed to 777. I guess I am 
not the only one ...

The question I have is, what is the reason why TYPO3 won't ship with the 
required 777-permission?

This is not meant in anyway as a critique or so. The question came up 
when checking the CMS Pimcore, which after download and unpack already 
has the required permissions applied.

I just would like to understand.

777 isn't required and complete nonsense.
If 775 isn't working for you, then you simply are using the wrong
user/group combination for your installation.

Btw, UNIX access rights (and how to adjust them) for your installation
are well explained in the INSTALL.TXT file that comes with TYPO3.

Backports were indeed forgotten. I also found this bug in a 4.5 installation
and then found the report+patch.

Security reasons. Well configured systems usually run with not more than 
0660 for files and 2770 for directories.

Thus, the introduction package sets 0666 and 2777 by default, and for 
the dummy package / the core package we assume that people know a bit 
better what they are doing.

Because even that is more then needed. Actually the webserver is the one 
that is important. On usual setups, the webserver runs on some kind of 
webserver group (www-data) and the user is the user of the FTP account.


Then you need to change the group for all files and folders to the webserver 
group.

The following folders need write permission (77?):
fileadmin/
typo3conf/
typo3temp/
uploads/

The other folders only need read and execute permissions (75?):
t3lib/
typo3/

Note the question mark. If you have a common setup, you can even set the 
last bit to 0 and it still works (770 and 770). Otherwise use 775 and 755 
there.

Actually can can even set fileadmin/ and uploads to read/write only (760).

To summarize:
You have three bytes: owner, group and world. For each byte you can set it 
to:
none = 0
read = 4
read + execute = 5
read + write = 6
read + write + execute = 7

In general you should never allow world to write. In most case you do not 
even want world to read.

If you set your setup to 777, then everybody on your server can read and 
write to any of your files, including configuration files.


More advanced setups may fine tune the permissions even more (e.g. 
typo3conf/localconf.php vs typo3conf/ext/).

Hi Robert,

the 4.5 LTS is not meant to be a release where every new feature is
backported. In fact, we never backport any feature to a released minor
version of TYPO3. The LTS denotes that we will fix and support the
functionality *shipped* with 4.5.0 for three years with:

- bug fixes
- security fixes
- compatibility fixes (with newer browser versions for example)

The new FORM extension is a whole and unique new *feature* which was
released with TYPO3 4.6, thus won't be backported to work with 4.5.

Of course anyone is welcome and could release a compatible "form"
extension that works with TYPO3 4.5 LTS, but this is not the
responsibility of the core team and will never get into the official 4.5
LTS release.

The official release workflow which states this is documented here [1].

I want to create a extbase extension that deals with persons. I try to 
use DDD and the main entity should be PERSON. It's hard for me to 
calculate the position. Later I want to do things like searching in the 
model or call controller actions via ajax to update only parts of the 
model without sending the complete model within one big HTML form.

A person has properties like prename, lastname, ... and it has some 
addresses (value objects):
- a private address
- a company address
- some addresses for delivery purposes


What is the best way to model a proper relation between the entities?
Should I create direct relations to ADDRESS entities in PERSON entity

PERSON --- ADDRESS, 1:1 Relation, privateAddress
|    |
|   ADDRESS, 1:1 Relation, companyAddress
|
ADDRESS, 1:n Relation, deliveryAddresses


or is it better to provide a "container" entity for ADDRESSes? I think 
ADDRESSCONTAINER should be an entity then, should it be an aggregate 
root also?

This is completely dependent on your 'problem' you are trying to solve.
There's not so much as a 'wrong' way, but you do want to think in terms of
what solves the problem best and yet is as simple as possible.

So if your person always has three types of addresses I will most-likely
create a address object (and probably using Single Table Inheritance for
the different types, and hook it up to tt_address if appropriate).

Domain Modeling should always be focused on solving your problem, so I
would stay close to that and be as simple as possible within solving it. It
will make your program understandable, extendible and more stable.

As - in addition - we are to start the Core Team Meeting in Munich on

Thursday. Doing this we are able to use the upcoming manpower to better 
work on the outstanding issues.

Hey Frank,

part of this project will be to write proper JS documentation and coding
guidelines, based on the best practices known from jQuery.

Also, as jQuery is the de-facto standard for JS frameworks these days,
we should use ExtJS for the widgets and jQuery for "everything else". We
still have tons of prototype code, and code that is pre-prototype-js.

Hi, guys,

I observe a strange behaviour in the TER: when opeing the TER site 
directly via http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/, a result is 
already shown (a deprecated powermail extension). CLicking on "Back to 
TER" at the bottom and then performing a search leads to that respective 
ext again - no other search results.

The ext shown at the beginning changes obviousely every day, but not the 
behaviour.

But when I call the old URL: http://typo3.org/extensions/ - which 
automatically redirects to http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/ - 
everthing functions normally.

I have a custom module where I want to be able to link to the 
(Templavoila) page module and open a certain page there. I have been 
able to open the page using the following in the onclick of the link:

top.goToModule('web_txtemplavoilaM1', '', 'id=11');

However this does not update the page tree. Is there any way to update 
the page tree when doing this?

Yes, the TCA reference was separated into its own manual. Unfortunately 
it is not currently visible due to some issues with rendering on the new 
typo3.org, which we hope to fix as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, you can grab it straight from the SVN repository:

Hi dear TYPO3 community,

we just had an short informal bilateral "Release Team Meeting" today
with Oliver Hader and Steffen Ritter. Regarding the fact that we met for
6 days in Munich anything which came up has been addressed personally.

Here are the things which have been successfully tackled as a team in
Munich:
 - Media Element has been reworked
 - Many Bugfixes have been merged
 - an Upgrade Wizard for 4.7 Media Element has been written
 - the Government Package has been fixed and the Introduction Package
got some updates
 - the press releases have been prepared
 - Broad tests of the current stuff were done
 - problems with DAM_content in 4.7 have been located which are fixed by
now.

Anyhow it came to light on saturday that we have an error in our
automated release process which resulted in wrongly packaged Release
Candidate files for 4.7. In fact the Release Candidate packages
contained the sources of the current Master branch which is version 6.0.
As by Thursday already many things changed in the master branch you most
likely broke your system. We removed the download links and added
according warnings to the news.

We fixed the scripts and will release a second Release Candidate
tomorrow. Afterwards we are permantly going to remove the problematic
packages from sourceforge and the tag on Git. We hope not having raised
to many problems on your side.

Today Oliver and I additionally discussed Release Parties, the timeframe
for the Release tomorrow and next week as well as probably outstanding
things. Besides the problem, that we are still waiting for the Design
Team do Design Release Party Banners as well as Stage Items and Graphics
for our Release Notes we are in a very good state and will Release TYPO3
4.7 next week - in time.

And, I think input form element use drag and drop isn't easy.
Especially maxlength of attributes properties, specify the size is
difficult to understand.
How do I increase or reduce the numbers?
There is only one button can press.

Doesn't input form element become easier to use?

PS)In case of chrome, a number and a button overlap.

Hi devs,

now that I have heard all 3 parts of GIT-Workshop at T3DD12,
I once again have a problem with rebasing my personal Versions
of Typo3 (only some few changes in t3lib and tslib).

With 4.6 and 4.7 all was easy with
   > git fetch --all
   > git rebase TYPO3_4-x
   > git submodule update
ready.

*But* with 4.5 I had problems:
   > git fetch --all
   > git rebase TYPO3_4-5

This leads to (Note: I never changed something in version nor 
linkvalidator):
> Auto-merging typo3/sysext/linkvalidator
> CONFLICT (submodule): Merge conflict in typo3/sysext/linkvalidator
> Auto-merging typo3/sysext/version
> CONFLICT (submodule): Merge conflict in typo3/sysext/version
> Failed to merge in the changes.

I then did
   > git submodule update
which gave me many lines of output, e.g.
> [...]
> From git://git.typo3.org/TYPO3v4/CoreProjects/workspaces/version
> [...]
>  * [new tag]         TYPO3_4-5-15 -> TYPO3_4-5-15

Then I tried to continue with

but I got these Errors:

*QUESTION*: How do I resolve this CORRECTLY ?

I tried this:
   > git reset HEAD typo3/sysext/linkvalidator
   > git reset HEAD typo3/sysext/version

   > git rebase --continue
   > git status
   > git submodule update
   > git status

After all this, I had a *somehow* rebased Version,
but what's irritating me is this output from
   > git diff origin/TYPO3_4-5

submodules - RIGHT ?

Hi,
switching between branches, that may or may not have submodules included
already always will lead to problems.
Therefore you must delete the according directories / submodule pointer
manually and then do git reset --hard

If it is the way that a submodule was added a git submodule update
--init might be needed additionally.

I now solved my problem doing e.g for workspaces
   > cd typo3/sysext/workspaces
   > git fetch --all
   > git checkout e6f59e7bac441d08e04f214a8532c6548bbeb106
Which is the same revision as in origin/TYPO3_4-5

But how would I do it correctly ?
Should I do a
   > git submodule foreach git reset --hard
before or after the rebase ?

Or schould I do as the very first thing:
   > git fetch --all; git submodule foreach git fetch --all

I would say that a "git reset --hard" in the main directory and a "git
submodule update --init" would suffice.

But the overall suggestion I have would be to (as Steffen Ritter already
mentioned) never switch between minor release branches (4.5 > 4.6 etc)
in the same GIT working copy. Use different working copies for that and
if you want to save some space and network activity, use a shared GIT
object database. See this resource [1] to learn how to do it.

But I always stay in *one* branch (here my personal 4.5.sg Version, 
rebased on origin/TYPO3_4-5), because I use

Hello I need to make some actions on fields in preProcess hook but to do 
this I need the id of news. I can get it when i update record but how 
can I get it when I add record.

For example I need to copy content from bodytext to second field 'to_export'
I`ve tried $incomingFieldArray['to_export'] = 'sample' but this didn`t 
work. How can I do this in preProcess ?

from tt_news table in preProcess cause the bodytext is not yet converted 
there so for example links are <a href="http not <link http

This is very important for me. I hoped that changing incomingFieldArray 
will help but it has no result :/

Hi,

than you need to do it a bit tricky ;)

1. Create a Register Singleton
2. Push the values to register in the preProcessStep
3. Use the generic id's from 2. in postProcess to get the real ones ;)
   and get the data from the register

Hi Typo3ers,

We are having an issue with typo3 logins. Some end users of one of our
clients are working in hospitals (private network to public network). They
have a citrix setup.

   - User 1 logs in using felogin extension
   - User 1 sees own data
   - User 2 logs in using felogin
   - User 2 sees user 1's data
   - User 1 logs out
   - User 2 sees own data

Is this a citrix issue, or is there some setting I need to set to stop this
happening? All the installtool fe settings are set to default except rsa
auth level.

I am using my own extension to display data, using
$GLOBALS['TSFE']->fe_user->user['uid'] to identify users.

fe lockHashKeyWords is still set to user agent.

Extensions are non cached pibase.

Typo3 4.5.15, using saltedpasswords, rsaauth (I'm also having issues that
some users have to enter their login details twice before being logged in,
but that seems to be a known issue)

Following a previous
discussion<http://lists.typo3.org/pipermail/typo3-dev/2011-December/044703.html>,
which never reached conclusion, I got bored of waiting and created a public
git mirror of some TYPO3 extensions. It is available on
https://github.com/TYPO3-Extensions/repositories and may hopefully be
useful for other people.

To do that and keep it synced I wrote a simple
script<https://gist.github.com/2487758>making use of
svn2git <https://github.com/nirvdrum/svn2git>. I hope that it may somehow
help whatever is going on with git.typo3.org. And *I would gladly help* to
integrate that script, or some kind of variation, with git.typo3.org. But
that would require a minimum of coordination...

As soon as git.typo3.org will officially accept community extensions I will
gladly hand over the github account, or destroy it. I don't have any intent
to create "concurrence", but rather address people needs (at least ours).

Oh, by the way, is there any way to upload our own git repository to
git.typo3.org for one of our extension ? Who should I contact for that ?

I think we can discuss a github mirror again, once we get support for
community extensions. However, I already see the problem that people
send pull-requests for the TYPO3 Core mirror, which really conflicts
with the infrastructure we're using with Gerrit.

I think we can discuss a github mirror again, once we get support for
community extensions. However, I already see the problem that people
send pull-requests for the TYPO3 Core mirror, which really conflicts
with the infrastructure we're using with Gerrit.

don't you? ;-)

I did not intend to lower the pressure about that topic, but on the
contrary to make something happen as fast as possible and to, hopefully,
point you to (one of) the right direction.

And I may not have been clear enough, but what I did is a *
temporary, read-only solution*. Not a single change will be made to git
mirrors. Mainly because I am not the owner of those extensions and it would
be plain wrong of me to take over ownership.

*Those mirrors are NOT for development*, but for use of extensions (via git
submodule).

I am sure you can understand the situation is extremely frustrating for
community extensions. Especially since official git server now serves more
than 30 extensions. As much as I love those extensions (fed, flux, news),
it doesn't seem to be fair at all for other people.

Please see this as a desperate attempt to help you. Again, I am more than
willing to get my hands dirty. Maybe I should contact Peter ?

Yeap - I forget to add that autoformating is a key here :)

Thanks for the link - I will vote for sure but if this is specific only 
for TYPO3 then I don't think we will see that soon :(
