There are quite some places, where the prefix is checked for "tx_", not 
only at that place, e.g. in TCEForms. I posted a patch to the core list 
a while back and tried to fix all those (have a look at RFC #14313, v2) 
and unify the check for valid prefixes.

What i somewhat fear: older TYPO3 Versions only accept "tx_". So even if 
you don't intend to make an extension incompatible, using Tx_ as a 
prefix will just do that. The patch should at least go to 4.5
