[TYPO3-dev] TYPO3 BE auth

  Hello list,

can the backend login be extended in the same way as the frontend login, 
or can an auth service extension cover both parts? What I am focusing on 
is being able to auth users from a foreign table (there are connected 
TYPO3 users). So all being needed in the auth class would be generating 
the session for the logged in user or setting the user to be logged in.
As well trying to integrate frontend rights for backend users, ain't it 
possible to use a fake fe_users record with general rights (for all 
backend users) and store the specific user data from backend user or 
external db in the fe_users' session only?
