I must be a very lucky dude... The laptop I use at work has Windows 
Vista (crashes? < 1/month) and I'm constantly running loads of stuff:
- NetBeans (500MB)
- Acrobat (275MB)
- Firefox (170MB) with FireBug and some other extensions
- OpenOffice.org
- Thunderbird
- Skype
- TortoiseSVN
- FileZilla client

About 70% of physical memory used, working like a dream.
