In NetBeans I added in Tools > Options > PHP > General the folder with 
my local copy of the TYPO3 trunk to the 'Global Include Path'.

This way NetBeans knows all classes from the core and in many cases it 
manages to use them in the code completion hints.
The only thing I have to figure out is how to get NetBeans to understand 
the class behind things like $GLOBAL['TYPO3_DB'], etc.
