[TYPO3-dev] tca "types" and required fields

I used the types field for in an extension I'm writing for the first time to
alter the fields displayed. Problem is it saves it when changing, even
though required fields are not set. The required field is on the general
tab, teh type selector on the next tab.

Could this be the cause of the problem?
