I've noticed that weird behavior too.. Just attached a patch 
"11875_db_list_doesnt_show_0_values.patch" to your bug report at 
http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=11875 that fixes the bug for me (for 
input & checkbox values)

It's not properly tested though!
