I know.... I have been in that situation myself,
the solution for me at that time was to team up with a established  
company
and do the work with them... That was even an advantage for me
because all project management was done by them...

Well, the CTO should care actually, remember he is the Chief  
TECHNOLOGY Officer!!!
But I understand what you are trying to say.

Often somebody from company XYZ can bring there tech person, OR the  
'so called' CTO asked
a tech guy back in the office, what the hell is DDD, sounds like a  
drug to me.....
And the tech guy can answer 'Ooo.. that's cool new buzzword XYZ, it  
nice.. it saves times, you should get it... or NOOO don't go there,  
it's just fuzz talk....'

So buying a tech product needs tech explanations. But this have to be  
done in combination with
marketing people, it cannot stand on it's own.

Marketing guy talks shit about the greatest thing and it can even make  
you coffee, then asks the tech guy for the demo....


Bottom line, tech guys are good to have in these conferences!!
They are smarter then you think, they know more about marketing then  
you think, they just hate to lie....
