this is just not true for everybody! I am no core dev and I still create 
patches and test others!

I guess this can happen but I doubt that this is normal

Which core exts do you mean?

Of course it would have been way nicer to have e.g. workspaces as a real 
extension but this just not possible with the big TCEmain and the old 
code. And it would be the same issue as with DBAL (already discussed in 
4.3. general list) that if so important features are not activated on 
default, there is a high risk that upcoming features stop those to work.

I got really many extensions in TER and there are really few people who 
want to help

IMO more people are working on it, especially after opening the core 
list to the public
