You cannot expect fully new concepts and stuff incorporated into a 
release to be available to an older one. Fluid and Extbase are a new 
framework for extension. You have to choose either not using them and be 
compatible with 4.2 and before or use them and be ready for 4.3 and the 
future.

You may of course to both of them if you really have nothing else to do :-)
