Maybe I was not clear enough - I was thinking to remove Etags because there is a collision with CDN.

If images are served from one server only, Etags should be in place.

Another thing to put into the consideration is where does Typo3 replace existing images, instead of just adding them? This seems to be a case with /uploads/pics. What about typo3temp/pics?
