I share these views :) But there are so many lambs out there when it comes to security :( So it is typical when many system try to take security into their hands. SuSE for example comes with its own firewall, which is enabled by default and very inflexible... But it works and protects against most attacks.

In my opinion it is ok to include it in FE. These are stable third-party libraries.
