Just to follow up on this, it was indeed some local configuration left 
over from 4.1:

t3lib_extMgm::addToAllTCAtypes('pages','nav_title,keywords,description','1');

which was mostly to have those fields available also on the standard 
pages. This, obviously, is not necessary in 4.2 anymore :-)
