[TYPO3-dev] requestUpdate does not work on selectboxes (group-fields)

Could you make the changes directly into the Core classes upload a diff 
(with option -u) of your changes to the bug you have filed?

If the fix is reasoable (ie doesn't look like a hack with any unwanted 
effects, etc) then there are chances to get your fix done.
