AFAIR I did not do such a thing.

After experiencing problems with 5.2.0 I did nor recommend it. But I think 
later versions have improved.

IMHO Mysql 5 is fine as long as you do not enable strict mode. This won't 
work in 4.1. Maybe it will do fine in later TYPO3 versions.

As it seems that some packages come with strict mode on, and many users 
don't know it exists and I fear that is never written anywhere on typo3.org 
  that is doesn't work, it's easier to recommen earlier versions :-)
