[TYPO3-dev] Workspaces and 2-way MM relations

Hi all,

According to reports [1][2] and my own experience workspaces don't 
handle correctly the new 2-way MM relations that were introduced in 4.1. 
Both bugs mention examples related to the DAM, but the issue is actually 
with the core. Both bugs mentioned above propose patches, but none of 
them actually worked for me.

This is no minor issue, because it means - in brief - that DAM and 
workspaces cannot be used together.

I have some vague ideas about how workspaces work, some other vague 
ideas about MM relations (and never looked into 2-way MM relations), so 
the combination of the two feels like so much black magic to me.

Can anyone help with this? With pointers to solutions? With actual work 
(if yes, how much sponsoring would be needed, knowing that there are 
already 150€ pledged to bug 3907)?
