[TYPO3-dev] Developing plugins for RTE

Hi all

Is it possible to develope plugins for htmlAreaRTE (rtehtmlarea) through
the usage of hooks or anything like that? I've been searching for
information on this, but I haven't found anything usefull uptill now.
Neither in the documentation of the extension nor in the extension files
itself.

All I want is to be able to add a button and a pop-op with some
functionality to add specific text.
