I have made for that relative good working proposal with advanced features.
Well-thought configuration options and hooks.

* possible to disable record types
* hook to configure special record types
* hook to add extra information

Includes advanced page type handling - resembles TemplaVoila but has 
some advanced features.
* checks if shortcut is valid or content_from_pid has valid uid
