[TYPO3-dev] caption spit doesn't work without additional spit function for caption in 4.0rc2

While checking Ernestos patch for the IMGTEXT bugs I found another one

This is a bug for anyone who is working with IMGTEXT but without
CSS-styled-content.
In the new CSS-styled-content a workaround is implemented to get back the
original behaviour of captionSplit by using a split function in caption
instead.

But this makes captionSplit unusable for sites withtout CSS-styled-content.
An Update to 4.0 will remove all splitted captions from the output, which is
IMHO not acceptable.

BTW: I moved down to the "send" button with a Scroll-mouse and that changed
the category. Could someone please assign the appropriate one?
