Hi Ingo,

I guess that "mis-use" of guestbook is part of the problem Franz wants 
to address, only with the wrong measures I think.

It seems like Franz is not interested in guestbooks at all, neither are 
you: You both simply want a plug'n'play solution to commenting, be it 
threadless (timtab with ve_guestbook) or threaded (tt_products with 
tt_board).

Ideally, we would leave the guestbooks and forums alone, and create a 
simple comment API that can be attached to any record type, so it 
basically works like ve_guestbook with timtab (if I remember the hook 
correctly). I agree that hacking guestbook/tt_board for this purpose 
works, but it's not particularly elegant.

Since commenting is such a common thing nowadays, we should simply 
provide a unified interface to this, maybe *based* on guestbook/board 
code but not by endlessly extending those.

PS: The very same argument goes for creating a rating plugin, so maybe a 
brainstorming on a generic API would pay off...
