Hi Luc,

When I see 10 calendars, frameworks, blogs trying to do the same I  
draw the same conclusion as you; Lets try to find out if they are  
merely doing the same and if so, come up with a unified basis. For me  
its a sort of meta-feature of the extension concept that popularity  
exposes trends we can be pretty safe to know are real.

I hope you and Elmar will reach each other because the ECT is in fact  
the most promising project to unite several extension developments  
and the closest thing you come to a guarantee that your work will not  
be in vain.
