That is not fully correct this way !

IE can of course handle png with transparency ! But only such with binary transparency
(0/1 transparent pixels) like in .gif ... and no alpha-channels (0-256 transparency levels).
Those are quite well supported by FF.

You can get those alpha-channel pngs to work in IE with an ugly CSS hack for which an extension
is available (ie5pngfix or such)

AFAIK IE7 will support transparency layers out of the box.
