Do you know if he has any new plans on improving the skin?

He never responded to any of my mails. I have already created new icons for 
4.0.1. So he MUST use the version that came with 4.0.1

Also TYPO3's API still has glitches. You still cannot skin everything.

I have never heard any complaints or seen any bug reports about this.

So all in all, it's a must to me that the skin has to be improved by a team 
  with at least one Core developer. The current CSS code of the new skin 
has many troubles that IMHO only are there because TYPO3 lacked a few 
classes. At least I interpret the issues in that way. If I were not so 
friendly I'd say that the authors have little clues about X-browser CSS...
