Well that's interesting. What's exactly the typo3 backwards
compatability contract? Is it "with the same code, behave _exactly_
and 100% like older versions did"? If that's so, don't you think that
such a contract is reason for a lot of old and useless code rotting in
typo3? Wouldn't a contract like this for this particular issue make
more sense? "Display a page browser. Behaves reasonable. What exactly
we call reasonable might change over time. But it will always be a
page browser that allows you to browse between the pages. Old options
on new code will not break it but will maybe don't behave the same
way as in older versions."
