Hi, Elias, maybe it would be constructive for you to just try discussing
your points in public. I and probably others have no idea of what you
are talking about, if its not the discussion in bug report #1188, to
which Stucki referred.

My view is that the ImageMagick support in TYPO3 is like it is today
because it evolved from version to version, where more bug fixes and new
settings were added. And I think if we want to change anything in this
area, we cannot just "start from zero", because tons of extensions and
other code is already relying on that framework (be it buggy or not). So
any change has to consider every backwards compatibility issue, and this
is the major factor that slows down development here. If we are going to
release a TYPO3 5.0 someday that doesn't have such a strict
backwards-compatibility problem, it might be the ideal time to start
getting the job done.

As an example, take a look of what Gallery 1
(http://gallery.menalto.com) did and how the new Gallery 2 totally
reworked the image processing, including full "out-of-the-box" support
for every IM/GM version there is, where no user-setting is needed.

Cheers,
Ernesto
