Indeed +1 but I'd expect a CMS to do most of the work for me.. as is the 
purpose of xMENU LAYERS. I've been testing my 'patch' in a couple of 
situations over the past few hours and it doesn't seem to make much of a 
difference, except you don't need to use <table> anymore as the 
documentation states. A slight improvement I'd say. I'll take it to the 
content rendering group from here on. See what they have to say on the 
topic. Anything that makes TYPO3's markup cleaner can count on my +1!
