Hello Michael,
to me the the first proposal and the second one have a little different
tenor. I like the second one better. That is starting towards 5.0 in a
different branch, while the 4.x branch is still supported for a good while.
There can be a 4.1, 4.2, ... 4.5 ... to give backward compatibility for 2
or 3 years, mainly in the sense of bugfixing. A good and stable TYPO3 with
the current features.
Meanwhile 5.0 can be prepared thoroughly, without any pressure, without the
need of any compromises for backward compatibility.
I would like to see some changes in the API in this step. The current
namings in TYPO3 are very TYPO3 special. The learing curve is more steep
than necessary. It could be the right time to do a TS 2.0 that is really
object based.
