Hi Ingmar,

I see that your response is also on the Typo3 Wiki
(http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Upgrade) under the following:

"This is a step by step guide on how to upgrade from an older version of
TYPO3 to TYPO3 4.0."

It seems to be overly simplistic and could cause many people to do
things wrong (As I just did ;))
I followed the instruction on a barebones 3.8.1 (unix) install and by
removing the typo3/ directory (and others) and now I can't access the
backend http://www.example.com/typo3/ since I just removed it :).

I think the majority of people who are currently running typo3 will most
likely want to upgrade rather than doing a clean install. Wouldn't it
make sense to have some kind of upgrade guide somewhere rather than
scattered upgrade snippets spread among the Wiki, typo3.org and text
files included with the source?

I don't know who put those instructions on the Wiki but I think they
should be taken down or at least made more comprehensive before people
start flooding the lists with problems they have because they followed
those instructions.

btw, congrats and great work on typo 4.0! :)
