Correct me, if I'm wrong, but isn't TV an extension too?
So you just don't have to make an extension, because someone else already
did ... ;-)
Now it's up to the developer, if he wants to use one of the different
existing extensions - including TV, which is not the only possibility to get
more flexibility into content elements - or if he creates his own extension
which might be better since it will perfectly fit individual needs.
There has been a quote of a german blog recently in the german list.
This is my attempt of a translation:
If you want to cut down a tree you can go to your local do-it-yourself store
and order an axe.
But they deliver a set of umpteen boxes containing a construction kit for a
fully blown high tech tank with a laser gun.
After a few weeks you managed to build this tank and now you can do much
more than desired.
The advantage is: You can still cut down the tree just by running it over.
The original was trying to describe how you feel while creating websites
with TYPO3.
But I think you can easily replace the term "TYPO3" with the term "TV" in
this example.
