Folks, could you please stop using terms like "old", "modern", "futuristic",
"dead" or similar in conjunction with the different ways of templating in
TYPO3?
This is only confusing people, especially those who are new to TYPO3, and
doesn't help them very much further.
At the moment we have got four different possibilities and each of them is
working properly if you know how to do it right.
1. TS only way - without HTML Templates but lots of wraps
2. TS + HTML TEMPLATE using manually set markers and subparts
3. TS + Autoparser + HTML TEMPLATE using manually set ids that will produce
marks and subparts
4. TV+ TS + HTML TEMPLATE using manually mapped areas instead of marks and
subparts
None of them is "dead" and each of them has got its advantages depending on
what you want to do.
BTW: Most of the projects I have been working on (including those for other
TYPO3 consultants and their clients) have been realised with solution 2.
Never had to use TV, and at the moment I don't see any reasons why I should
do that in the near future.
