Didn't you complain on TUGA that TYPO3 has too much home-brewn APIs? And 
you're right.

TYPO3 doesn't need it's oww and it ceratinly doesn't need a 
meta-template-API. A wrapper for templates APIs will only slow down 
TYPO3 even more.

So, convince everybody to use just one. I don't care if its Smarty or 
not. Though I think that using Smarty would be a smart move :-)
