This is the kind of thing that some people should know more than a week 
in advance !

Please, write this in Announce/English and the frontpage of typo3.org.

Some people may rely on this feature and for lots of people I can 
imagine that December is not the month for TER backup of their own 
extensions...

So make 2 announcements:

1- All private extensions will be removed from the repository in December

2- Once you get the date, write a second message about it.

Better safe than sorry !

Never hesitate to communicate. Don't wait to announce those kinds of 
things just a week before.
