[Typo3-dev] Bug or feature? ext template is not recognized when on the same page as a root template

Hi all,

I ran into this problem a couple of times now and would like to ask you
whether this is an intended behaviour.

If ther's a page having a root template record and an extension template
record the extension template is not recognized. 

A scenario where this is usefull is when you want to make extra settings
for the homepage only and put these into the extension template.
