Oops!  It is only available in 3.8, AFAIK.  Sorry, I should have noted that.

It is a function added to tslib_tmenu called 
changeLinksForAccessRestrictedPages.  There is enough of a difference 
between 3.7 and 3.8 that you wouldn't be able to extend the class and 
just add this function.
