I can confirm the click-menu still works and shows up a bit faster.

The patch you provided complains to me about missing files. This may
be because of the path structure you use on your system (TYPO3core
TYPO3core_orig) . Maybe you can post three separate files; one
class.t3lib_ajax.php, one diff against alt_clickmenu.php and one against
template.php? And then some little howto patch.

Anyways, it all works under a virgin 3.8.0 install, nice work, thanks.
